My current favourites – Drug store and High end foundations

February 19th, 2014

I find myself being asked for foundation recommendations, time and again. So I wanted to put together my current favourite foundations – both drugstore and high end – in one post. Before I write about them – just wanted to let you guys know that some of them are suitable for all skin types, while some are specific for a skin type. I will highlight the skin types for each foundation. You may ask me why I own foundations for different skin types?! Well, while my skin is normal/combination – it acts differently depending on the weather, my maintenance and the moods. So I pretty much own a foundation for every concern!

While this post is not an in-depth review on each of the foundations, I will write enough for you guys to know about them. However, keep an eye on this page as I would be writing reviews for each of the below mentioned foundations. So, here it is:

Lancôme Teint Vissionaire ($65 AUD)

This is my absolute favourite at the moment. This foundation comes with a concealer as well, attached to the lid. The best part of the foundation is that it is a mix of foundation and a skin correcting serum. So while it covers the uneven skin tone and blemishes, it also treats the skin at the same time. That’s a deadly combination!! While I cannot confirm that it has made a difference to my skintone yet, it definitely provides an excellent finish. It is a medium to full coverage foundation, and leaves a dewy finish. It is good for normal/combination and dry skin types.

MAC Mineralize Satin finish Foundation ($49 AUD)

Another good foundation for people with dry to normal skin type. This foundation gives a dewy/satiny finish, and is good for cold days. It is a light to medium finish, and is good for daily wear. It comes with SPF 15 – so that is just perfect for day time use. But be careful, as the foundations with SPF don’t go well with photographs and you might end up looking like a ghost in the photos (because of the light reflecting properties of the SPF particles). It also has some shimmer in it, so good for a radiant look or highlighting the face.

Covergirl Advanced Radiance Age-Defying Makeup ($27 AUD)

A great foundation for daily use, and had an SPF 10. It is a creamy foundation and works very well with dry and normal skin types. I found it good for my combination skin too. It smells great and sometimes I use it for the fragrance –just love it! It offers medium to full coverage, and doesn’t look cakey on the skin. The best part of this foundation is that it has Olay serum in it – so it treats the skin and keeps it hydrated.

Maybelline Fit Me ($18.95 AUD)

This is a liquid foundation and works well with normal/combination to oily skin types. It is very light and sets well on the skin. Easy to blend, and best applied with a brush. It offers light to medium coverage. It is perfect for hot days, and does not slide. Only negative is that it does not come in pump bottle, so the open bottle may be quite unhygienic to use. The things I like about this foundation are that it comes with an SPF 18, has a translucent primer base and has a good shade range.

Rimmel Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation ($14.95)

I usually stay away from matte foundations, as they tend to highlight the dry patches on my skin but this one has won my heart. This is my current everyday foundation, and is super ideal for hot days. During summer, my skin oozes oil but this foundation keeps it under control. The finish is velvety, and the coverage is medium to full. Perfect for combination and oily skin types. It is lightweight, blends easily and looks flawless on the skin.
