boe Beauty Pressed Powder Compact Review

July 7th, 2014

boe Beauty always takes me by surprise and never fails to impress me. The product I am reviewing today is their Pressed Powder Compact in Natural. I really find it hard to wrap my head around the pricing. For someone who always believed that good quality means a hefty price, boe Beauty products prove me wrong time and again. Their Pressed Powder Compact is just $2. However, it has replaced my MAC Studio Fix Foundation Powder as my daily go-to compact quite easily. I have decided to write a review before I hit pan – and that is going to happen soon.

The Beauty Mantra opinion

The packaging of this compact is very modest – a black coloured base pan with a clear plastic lid. The lid shuts well and can be popped into the handbag without a worry. The shade ‘Natural’ compliments my skintone (MAC NC35/40) perfectly. The texture is velvety and the powder is finely milled.

This is no light coverage product. Expect medium to full coverage, and the powder can be used on its own without a base. If using on top of a foundation, I recommend using a light coverage foundation (liquid foundation) and apply the powder with a powder brush with light handed, feathery strokes. If using on its own, make sure you moisturise your skin well (you do not want flaky finish) and buff the product in with a kabuki (or any dense hair) brush. The finish is flawless and does not appear cakey at all.

The powder lasts for a good 4-5 hours before a top up may be required. I did not experience any breakout from its use, and I have used it for a good 3 weeks now. I highly recommend this product, and at the price – it doesn’t even require a second thought!

Would I repurchase the product?

I liked how the powder applied, i had all the shades due to it being $2, but I found all of them far to pink based for my face. None of them were the correct shade, and it was painful to try to find one that was close. They caused breakouts on my face.
